I’m not going to lie, when I first learned about the law of attraction, I was a bit skeptical. What do you mean I can just have what I want?
But, after hearing about it work for so many successful people – Oprah, Jim Carrey, Will Smith, Bebe Rexha – to name a few, I had to look more into it and I’m so glad I did! Out of my fascination for learning more about the law of attraction, I can already see it working in my own life.
Even if you don’t believe in the power of the law of attraction, then the least you can take from it is that it teaches you to improve yourself as a person and inspires you to work towards your goals.
So with all of that said, here’s some of what I’ve learned about the Law of Attraction so far.

WHAT IS THE LAW OF ATTRACTION?
The Law of Attraction is the idea that we attract in our lives what we put our energy in and focus on. I believe that everything is composed of energy, so when you put positive energy in the world, you also attract positive energy and visa-versa. What you focus on, your subconscious mind and the universe will work to help you achieve it.
Kalyn Nicholson uses the perfect metaphor of this in her podcast, “Kalyn’s Coffee Talk.” She says to think of your brain like a radio. Imagine your thoughts as different stations that you are turning into, some that you may not even be aware of. If your brain is tuning in to negative frequencies, then you will attract negativity into your life, and visa-versa.
For example: Do you ever have those days where one wrong thing sets the mood for the rest of the day and it seems like what follows contributes to it feeling like the worst day ever, even if it’s something as simple as spilling your drink?
That one negative moment triggered a series of thoughts that completely ruined your day. The good news is that we can use the law of attraction for the opposite affect – to attract positivity into our lives.
Since your reality is what you perceive it to be, you can use the law of attraction to your benefit by shifting your mindset. If you focus on what you want to accomplish in life, then you manifest and naturally gravitate towards those things.
WHAT YOU CAN ATTRACT
You can attract anything you set your mind to whether it’s your dream job, a relationship, material things, money and anything else you can imagine. It’s important to be specific and know exactly what you want or else it won’t be very effective.
You have to declare what you want to attract by either saying it out loud or by writing it down. That way you’re putting it out into the universe.
It’s important that you don’t look to your past or present circumstances. Instead, look to the future and think about the things you’d like to attract into your life.
HOW TO USE THE LAW OF ATTRACTION
The first step you need to take is to become clear on what it is you are trying to attract. What do you want to manifest in your life?
Find what makes you feel authentic and true to who you are, what gives you genuine joy within yourself, what gets you excited and inspired to take on life.
Don’t be mad at yourself if it doesn’t jump out at you immediately. Sometimes it takes some time to sit and think on before it becomes clear.
If you’re having trouble, then try to remember times in your life where you did something that gave you a sense of bliss, fulfillment and purpose. Tap into those memories and visualize yourself in that moment. Trust your gut feeling because it’s a good indicator of the path you’re destined to follow. Doing so will make clear the path of least resistance that will allow you to reach your goals much quicker and easier.
The second step is to align actions with your goals (more on goal setting here). I use vision boards to not only put into the universe what I want, but to brainstorm ways I can work towards achieving it. You could write down on a piece of paper how you want to approach your goals or repeat it to yourself every morning, whatever works best for you.
By making clear your goals, you are planting the seed for the universe to do its work, and by taking action, you are watering the plants so they can eventually bloom into flowers (i.e. your wants).
I cover more on how to reach your goals and design your future in my online course, Goal Getter.
Intention and repetition is key
By setting your intention, you are planting a seed so the universe can bring your wants to you. You pull it into the present moment and tune your frequency so you can attract it to you faster.
The process starts with a statement like, “I intend to ______________.”
Carefully watch your words and your thoughts here because they’re like seeds that can’t take root if you are cutting them with negativity.
For this to be effective, you need to learn to be purposeful with your conscious thoughts and beliefs (more on changing your mindset here.)
I like to use affirmations because it taps into your subconscious mind and fills it with positive reinforcement. Rewiring your default thoughts takes time and doesn’t happen overnight, so repetition is key.
Earl Nightingale said it best: “Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality”.
Overall, your intention should be centered around what you want in life, rather than what you’re afraid of or stressed about. This involves letting go of control and trusting nature to do its work.
If you’re a perfectionist like me, it can be really hard to let go of anything because it makes you feel helpless. But, I promise that if you take the time to work on your intentions, you will begin to see the universe at work.
It’s all about trust and if you don’t have it, this process won’t work. Have faith, trust the journey and watch the process unfold.
YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK
How are you spending your time? Are the things you’re lining up in your day nourishment to what you want to manifest later on in life or are they distractions based on fear or stress?
I find that when I doubt myself or are stressed, I naturally book up my day with distractions so I don’t have to deal with my fears.
When you think negative, judgemental, depressing, competitive, jealous, angry, fearful thoughts, you become those things. But, if you think positive thoughts filled with abundance, joy, kindness, peace, patience, then you tap out of negativity and into the best version of yourself.
Going back to the garden metaphor – Your flowers won’t bloom if you aren’t watering them with positivity and the same goes for your mindset. If you aren’t speaking positivity and truth into your life, then you can’t reach your full potential.
Overall, it takes faith in the process, focusing on the journey, setting your intentions, releasing control and living life with purpose. Once you do these things, you will begin to see the universe align to manifest your dream life.

Very Helpful article, I believe Manifestation is the most important factor in the Law Of Attraction techniques because I am practising manifestation from 2 years, and now I can manifest easily without any effort but sometimes it takes a long time to manifest, depends on the things which are more complicated. But trust me, in the end, the result is always amazing.
