Sometimes life gets out of control – you are juggling a million things at the same time while trying to keep your head above water and make it seem like you have everything together. In the midst of the chaos, it’s easy to lose your sense of self and forget who you truly are.
I used to let my stress-induced thoughts take control of me – to where I felt like I should only be working and never make time for myself – that I lost who I was.
But journaling helped me break out of that rut. My thoughts and feelings flow through the ink-filled pages. In the process I not only take control of my emotions, but I discover a lot about myself.
Now before we get into it, I wanted to let you know that I created a 7-day free course that goes along perfectly with this challenge!
When going through the course, I encourage you to grab a pen and paper because there’s a lot packed in there!
Journaling has helped me work through a lot of tough times in my life and it continues to help me grow into a better version of myself.

If you too want to pursue this journey of self-discovery so you can become a better you, then I challenge you to use the prompts below and journal every day for the entire month. I promise you’ll learn more about yourself than ever before!

Final Thoughts
Once you finish the challenge, go back and reread what you wrote. Some answers may surprise you! When looking over your answers, there are a few things you might notice 1) your thought patterns back then vs now 2) what you truly want out of life 3) where your life is currently 4) what brings you true happiness – and most importantly – 5) What you can do today to get you closer to the life you’ve always wanted.
With the new year here, it’s the perfect time to embrace change, try new things and live a life you love!
On that note, I created a PDF version of the journal prompts so you can download them and use them while going through this challenge!

Now over to you – will you accept the challenge? Let me know in the comments below!
Great prompts! I’ll share on my Pinterest! Christine Michelle AlignedSoul.com
Thanks Christine! xx
Thanks so much
I’ve been feeling a bit uninspired writing-wise lately, and I think these prompts will help a lot. Thank you!!! 🙂
I’m glad to hear that they’re helping you xx Sometimes we just need a bit of inspiration to get us back in gear. I go through terrible writing blocks and journal prompts always get me out of it 🙂
Great prompts! I really need to start journaling, not only for the self-discovery, but also for the writing practice. As an aspiring freelance writer I need to practice, practice, practice. These prompts will certainly help! Thanks.
Love these prompts! Having trouble getting the link for the free printable list.
Thank you! I’m so sorry about that (thanks for letting me know) and it should be working now 🙂 xx
Thank You so much Haylie for the list. It really helped me ask so many different questions in my own life and learned a lot.
Awh, thanks for reaching out Tenzin! You comment made my day 🙂
These questions made me realize I don’t know myself at all. I couldn’t answer most of them. I don’t know what to do now. But they are great questions.
Great prompts! Thanks for creating the list! I can’t wait to start writing down the answers when I get home. 🙂
Thanks Hestiana! Enjoy ❤
Thanks so much, after rereading what I wrote I feel so much more better about life and myself.
That makes me so happy to hear Nevaeh! ❤
Thank you Haylie for these lists. Keep on inspiring people just like what you did to me. May God bless you for that.
Technically, this is 49, considering 12 and 31 are the exact same question, but otherwise, can’t wait to go through it! In lieu of the published 31, I’ll probably make up my own reflecting question like “Do you have a lot of friends? Describe all their qualities that complements yours.”
Hi Haylie! I LOVE these prompts. I think they are actually perfect questions to ask yourself for setting your goals for 2020 🙂 And the sharing count on this post is just incredibly impressive!
This is the pure ladder for life…. be yourself after responding to these questions.
Just wanted to say thank you so much for posting these. Not only do I enjoy them for myself, but i work with teenage girls, and some of these are great for group discussions. They really enjoy them too. I’m constantly looking for new topics and these are great! Thanks so much😸☕
